Vzhledem k tomu, \u017ee v\u00edce ne\u017e jedna \u010dtvrtina \u00fazem\u00ed Evropsk\u00e9 unie je p\u0159\u00edmo pokryta m\u011bstsk\u00fdmi pozemky, p\u0159edstavuje spr\u00e1va m\u011bstsk\u00fdch oblast\u00ed kl\u00ed\u010dovou sou\u010d\u00e1st ka\u017ed\u00e9 politiky udr\u017eiteln\u00e9ho rozvoje. V\u00fdznamnou odpov\u011bdnost v oblasti m\u011bstsk\u00e9ho pl\u00e1nov\u00e1n\u00ed nesou evropsk\u00e9 m\u00edstn\u00ed a region\u00e1ln\u00ed org\u00e1ny. Odpov\u00eddaj\u00ed zejm\u00e9na za \u00fasp\u011b\u0161n\u00e9 prov\u00e1d\u011bn\u00ed politik EU ovliv\u0148uj\u00edc\u00edch \u00fazemn\u00ed pl\u00e1nov\u00e1n\u00ed na m\u00edstn\u00ed a region\u00e1ln\u00ed \u00farovni.\n

\nEvropsk\u00e9 obce a regiony v\u0161ak \u010del\u00ed r\u016fzn\u00fdm v\u00fdzv\u00e1m v oblasti pl\u00e1nov\u00e1n\u00ed (nap\u0159\u00edklad nakl\u00e1d\u00e1n\u00ed s odpady, vyu\u017e\u00edv\u00e1n\u00ed energie z obnoviteln\u00fdch zdroj\u016f), kter\u00e9 mohou m\u00edt v\u00fdznamn\u00fd vliv na kvalitu \u017eivota ob\u010dan\u016f. Program Copernicus m\u016f\u017ee pomoci t\u011bmto v\u00fdzv\u00e1m \u010delit t\u00edm, \u017ee bude poskytovat informace o vyu\u017eit\u00ed p\u016fdy a o klasifikaci krajinn\u00e9ho pokryvu, o r\u016fstu m\u011bst, o m\u011bstsk\u00fdch zelen\u00fdch ploch\u00e1ch, o m\u011bstsk\u00fdch tepeln\u00fdch ostrovech apod.\n

\nProgram Copernicus m\u016f\u017ee tak\u00e9 pomoci p\u0159i monitorov\u00e1n\u00ed stability infrastruktur, posuzov\u00e1n\u00ed nov\u00fdch stavebn\u00edch projekt\u016f, posuzov\u00e1n\u00ed hustoty obyvatelstva apod.\n
