D\u00e1le se zav\u00e1zala zajistit, \u017ee do roku 2020 bude energie z obnoviteln\u00fdch zdroj\u016f tvo\u0159it 20 % z celkov\u00e9ho mno\u017estv\u00ed energie spot\u0159ebovan\u00e9 v EU a do roku 2030 pak 27 %.\n<br><br>\nKl\u00ed\u010dovou roli p\u0159i dosahov\u00e1n\u00ed tohoto z\u00e1vazn\u00e9ho c\u00edle bude hr\u00e1t v\u011btrn\u00e1 energie, kter\u00e1 je cenov\u011b dostupn\u00fdm, ekologick\u00fdm zdrojem. Dal\u0161\u00edm zdrojem udr\u017eiteln\u00e9 obnoviteln\u00e9 energie je tak\u00e9 Slunce: za jedin\u00fd den absorbuj\u00ed pou\u0161t\u011b  ze Slunce v\u00edce energie, ne\u017e j\u00ed spot\u0159ebuje lidstvo za cel\u00fd rok.\n<br><br>\nMezi hlavn\u00ed obnoviteln\u00e9 zdroje energie pat\u0159\u00ed rovn\u011b\u017e energie z vodn\u00edch zdroj\u016f a z biomasy. Data z\u00edskan\u00e1 prost\u0159ednictv\u00edm programu Copernicus se mohou vyu\u017e\u00edvat nap\u0159\u00edklad pro progn\u00f3zy v\u00fdroby slune\u010dn\u00ed a v\u011btrn\u00e9 energie, pro v\u00fdb\u011br lokalit ur\u010den\u00fdch pro za\u0159\u00edzen\u00ed na v\u00fdrobu obnoviteln\u00e9 energie, monitorov\u00e1n\u00ed biomasy nebo monitorov\u00e1n\u00ed hladiny vody.
